The thing that caught my eye the most was that we're all technically really young. Compared to how old the Earth is. I knew that we were only a second in Earth's long life, but seeing it on a diagram, and Shubin explaining it in years, made me realize how young and short lived humans are. Something else that I found interesting was that our cells keep dying and growing back. Then the idea of "You're a new you every 8 years". I heard it somewhere, and I'm not entirely sure, but it's the idea that your body replaces all parts within 8 years. So that's definitely something interesting.
Something else that's interesting is how they experimented to find the origin of the body. By letting a single-celled creature, and putting it under certain circumstances. Especially how they stayed at 8 cells because that's all they needed. What's cool is that how cells only use what's needed, even though they were able to go farther.
What even more interesting is that cells are able to organize themselves without the need of a. . . leader. Such as our brain. They're able to communicate with other cells so simply and are able to create what is the human body, and other living creatures.
