Chapter 7-- Adventures in Bodybuilding
I really liked how Shubin continues to grab the readers' attention not only through the introduction paragraph alone but every time he is about to profoundly discuss the significant concepts, he gives the reader a heads up in terms of what he will be discussing about next. Shubin's method in making sure the reader knows what to expect next helps the reader to keep up with the concepts, especially if the chapter is lengthy like chapter 7. In addition, Shubin's technique helps the reader organize the new terms and functions in order instead of leaving the reader confused the entire time. Once again, Shubin goes deeper into the concepts of body development like the previous chapter. This time, Shubin informs the reader how essential and necessary cells are to the function of one's body. I found it quite amazing that by cells dividing endlessly or failing to die properly, a living individual's life is on the line. In addition, who would've expected that the development of cancer involves with the cooperation of cells. I also found it interesting that rocks obtain greater importance and contain impressions of disks, ribbons, and fronds. For instance, just by small ribbon-shaped scrapes in mud portray that the feet prints of the creature were capable of complicated motions. Shubin continues to intrigue me and grab my entire attention through the contrast between a leg bone and eye. I was flabbergasted by the fact that the thing that contrasts those two are due to the ways the cells and materials are arranged deep within. I really was speechless how significant the failure of the attachment of small tiny cells or no materials between cells have the largest role in terms of the amount of bodies here on this earth. Shubin continues to discuss about the vital discoveries of flagellas and choanflagellates. Overall, I enjoyed this chapter and was glad to have been able to give my 100% attention unlike the previous chapter.
