Chapter Seven: Adventures in Bodybuilding
This chapter was pretty interesting in some parts. Shubin begins the chapter with his experience of watching limps begin to come together from embryos. It is incredibly fascinating to try to understand how body tissues and cells naturally come together and form what is a body. However, the cells that do not behave or follow the "pattern" create cancer cells that grow abnormally and sooner or later kills the cell community. He later discusses about our bones, joints, and cartilage that are made out of different material, but let contract and pull our muscles thereby allowing movement. The most interesting thing though, was when Shubin discusses the blob, and how the small molecules first started moving around, then became clumped together, and lastly formed into a sponge.
