Head

First off, I was already kind of eager to read this chapter, because the head and brain were my favorite subjects during Biology freshman year. So, I guess a was a little bias when starting this chapter, but it was much more attention holding than the previous. The amount of nerves and complex functions that they perform just to accomplish seemingly simple tasks such as frowning or furrowing an eyebrow surprised me, as did the gravity of importance such small cells hold in the functions of the brain to nervous system (mainly that of the face). This chapter emphasized that our bodies are pretty amazing.

So I wasn't totally on board with the whole fish to human before I began to read the book, but as I read on it began to seem plausible to me, but now Shubin is trying to tell us we're the same as worms and other kinds of bugs too! That seems a bit ridiculous don't you think? But he has proven my initial judgments wrong before, so let's see how he does it this time.
