Chapter five was some very interesting stuff. I realize now, through the illustrations and diagrams in the book, just HOW ALIKE we are to pretty much any and all animals, but how strange it is that we cannot communicate with any of them. The rods and plates facts are soo exciting. And the fact that we are like sharke, even as embryos, is a little scarry. I just went to the aquarium and saw some shark embryos on display and they were strange looking. We really do look a lot like sharks, at that very very young age. Also, all of Shubin's information on worms, well it was about as interesting as it was confusing. (Which is good?) Because, well worms have been around a LONG TIME, way longer than us and if they're the creatures that we as people are based on, it means we have good genes since I don't hear any talk of worms going on the endangered species list anytime soon. I think that this book is very interesting (even though the content seems to be way over my head), and i can't wait for the next chapter.
