As I began reading Chapter 2, as some of my classmates mentioned, I found Shubin's explanation of the significance of our hands very fascinating. I realized the true significance of my hands and wrists, and this realization made me even more interested in Shubin's explanations of how our hands took millions of years to develop into what they are today.
Just like as I was reading the first chapter, I am still amazed by the connection we humans have with the Tiktaalik. Shubin's connection of how the Tiktaalik could do pushups emphasized the connection even more to me, despite how funny the idea seemed. I find this connection of the Tiktaalik to humans very fascinating and strange. I was also very interested in how despite how different humans may look from other animals, our bone structures are similar. In addition, the pictures in the chapter were very helpful and made everything easier to understand. After reading this chapter, I could not help but feel strange that I have a connection like that with my pets.
Furthermore, I could not help but wonder how else humans could evolve in the future.
