Chapter 2 : Getting a Grip
Chapter two started out a little weird. I was seriously disgusted at the whole dissecting a human thing, I was scared from 7th grade and dissecting the frogs. But I was really amazed at how he described how the hand for any animal is based of a normal pattern and then transformed to make it an individual animal. The pictures still tend to be my favorite part of the book though. You can really tell that finding the Tiktaalik is something he is reallllly proud of and how this lead to his theory of how we came from fish. I agree with others where they say this makes you really appreciate your arms and hands and fingers. I play basketball, so I know how important an arm or hand or finger is to someone who plays sports and how much they are needed. But by reading this, you can appreciate your arms in an everyday life doing just plain things. I felt almost pathetic when he started talking about fish doing pushups; because if a fish can do a pushup, then surely I can. This is the one book for summer reading that I'm actually looking forward to finishing.
