Chapter Two

When chapter 2 started, I thought it was a little off topic. Especially considering that chapter 1 is all about a 360 million year old fish with limbs, but as it progressed I began to see how Shubin ties in his explanation of the human to fish evolution theory. I thought it was pretty interesting when he explained the complexities of the human hand, and how many intricate movements there are just to accomplish a seemingly simple task. I enjoy reading this book now that it has gotten deeper into Shubin's explanation of fish sprouting limbs and walking around. For me, the most appalling concept was the one bone, two bones, lotsa bones, digits idea, and how it applied to so many creatures. Not just ones that have obviously similar limbs to those of human's.
