The Little Mermaid

Personally, I didnt find the second chapter very interesting. The only thing I found super interresting was the fact that a fish could do push-ups. I thought that was pretty funny.

But, anyway, one of the other things that stood out to me was the dissecting of the cadaver. That's one of the things I want to do. I'd love to see the inner workings of the human body. I want to see the organs and understand what connects to what and how it affects our body as a whole. It was interesting reading about Shubin's experience. The fact that after awhile, he got used to the whole process of dissecting the rest of the body and understanding that what was on the inside was what everyone had on the inside, is like a habit. You do something enough and soon, you won't even realize what you're doing.

When he got to the hand, he felt that fear and anxiety he felt before the dissection began. It's pretty ironic how people have that saying "It's what's on the inside that counts" when Shubin literally shows us that to get to the inside, you have to examine the outside first.

I titled this post 'The Little Mermaid', because, well, she's half fish, half human. In a way, Tiktaalik is kinda like that. Well, partially.
