Building Blocks

In the beginning of this chapter, I found the intro quite insipid as Shubin has been constantly giving readers about his own past incorporating it with the theme of the chapter. However as I continued to read i found it interesting when Shubin began describing our body's countless number of cells and how they work, as Shubin stated that our body , our organs "know" its size and place, its function. I especially found the part about our skin cells quite interesting as well as I always wondered about what is happening when we get warts or tumors. In this chapter, Shubin skillfully delineated the process and also tied in the theme of cells in our body as he talked about the communication of cells.
I also found the part where Shunbin talks about our body and how it is connected especailly amazing as it said it was by the means of our "biological glue", which Shubin claimed, was the"cells sending molecules to other cells". It is what gives our "tissues and organs its distinctive appearance and function". It is what makes our bodies possible as without it our bodies would just be "a batch of cells". It tells the cells how to behave, when to divide and even die.
