Chapter 7 started out to be really boring as Shubin begin to describe what our body is made out of, cell division, etc. Much of this I had already learned in the past, so it was just a review. However, as I continued reading, the chapter became really interesting as I started to learn about how our cells interacted and communicated, how cells of a single body part was different from another body part, the tissues (collagen and cartilage) that make up our body. I was really surprised at the facts that collagen was the most common protein in animals and how it makes up over 90% of the body's protein by weight. I was also surprised when our bodybuilding apparatus was similar to sponges, procazoans, which are single-celled microbes.
