When Shubin says that he stained the cells to separate the bones and the cartilage, it made me want to go into a lab and do the same thing. Just thinking about it is amazing. Shubin says it was like looking at a creature made out of glass and I think that it would be interesting to see it in person.
Like Kimmy said, it would be a drag to have to identify organs simply by looking at a slide. It’s kind of weird to learn that it there was no means to attach cells with one another, then there would be no human beings on Earth. We would all just be batches of cells. Without skeletons, we would all just be goo. Like Danny says, it makes us appreciate our bodies that much more. Shubin says when running our bodies work like a machine with our muscles contracting, and our arms and legs moving back and forth. I don't understand how a sponge could have some of the human body features.
I thought this chapter made me appreciate the things I can do because of my skeleton. It makes me wonder what life would be like if there was no skeleton. Would there even be life? Like Shubin says life will never be the same because of the increased amount of oxygen.
