Chapter 7: Adventures in Bodybuilding

This chapter has definitely been my absolute favorite. It amazes me how our cells are brought together by different molecules. I never really thought of what brings me altogether and I only thought cells come together on their own. This chapter gives me much insight on what happens inside ourselves. As Shubin explained how he challenges his students to identify different types of organs by just looking at random slides of tissue under a microscope, I began thinking if I would be able to ever do that if I got up to their levels of education. What really got to me was when Shubin explained the experiment that pushed a single-celled organism to becoming eight cells in each clump just by introducing it to a predator. This really shook my thinking and I had to read it several times to understand it. The topic of what brings us all together really got to me and I would love to study something like this in the future.
