Chapter 7: Adventures in Bodybuilding

Finding out that Shubin built an animal from scratch was completely eye opening. You would expect building a house and building a body to be similar because in they end they all turn out the same, but it seems that it's not that easy to build a body. When building a body there are more things to take into consideration. Sometimes, there is a possibility that if body parts don't go or connect in the right places it can lead to a defect in a person. This sounds extremely life threatening so it's crucial that cells cooperate with one another.
It seems hard to identify one organ from another, doesn't it? They all look alike but we need clues to connect one from another. The same applies to our skeleton. It has a big impact on us whether we function or not because each bone is necessary in order for us to be able to walk or move or even eat for that matter.
Every human is a machine no matter how lazy that person may be. It's the way that we are built that determines our capability that affects our strength. For example an obese child would have a harder time running than a healthy child.
Towards the end of this chapter, the book talks about the most important cell in our body. A collagen. It's as tough as a rope and needed in a person. It's found between our bones and is the most common protein. Mhmm. Healthy.
It seems as if one cell can "talk' to the next by sending molecules. Even a sponge share human body's feature. That seems unlikely since a sponge has no bone or spine. But hey, in the world of science, anything seems possible :)
