Chapter 7: Adventures in Bodybuilding

At first glance, I thought this chapter would have something to do with bodybuilders (i.e. big muscles). The chapter started slow and provided a lot of information, but it proved to be helpful. I was surprised at the amount of collagen in animals and I think that it's interesting to know more about arthritis (p. 126) because my grandma has it.
Nicole King's research with choanoflagellates seemed very productive because it was found in humans, animals, and sponges. Choanoflagellates sound very versatile because of all of their functions.
The most interesting part of the chapter was when Martin Boraas and his colleagues did the experiment with alga. The amount of time that went into it, and the result, was very interesting when the alga broke apart to protect itself. This whole chapter definitely illustrates the importance of the small "no-bodies" that I would have never considered.
Who knew that the bacteria that can get us sick can also show how we evolved?
