Let's face it teeth are very important to everyone in life. Our first impression of people are their teeth and we can't eat most foods without teeth. Since I want to be a dentist in the future, I really enjoyed this chapter. As I read this chapter, the whole time day dreaming about my future, I thought it was amazing how hair, feathers, breast, and teeth all develop from the interactions between the layers of the skin. I couldn't help but think how different my life would be if I had grown feathers instead of hair or teeth outside of my mouth like some other animals. It's incredible how human skin, which is the biggest organ in the human body, is so versatile. Another part of this chapter that grabbed my attention was that Shubin and his friends thought that they didn't find anything while digging, but it turned out they found an animal whose teeth were half reptile and half mammal. I think that was probably the animal that was the turning point between reptiles and mammals.
I really enjoyed this chapter, and I am looking forward for the next one!
