Ch 4: Teeth Everywhere

This chapter taught me a lot about teeth and how they can be used to trace our history. Like how the beaks of different birds relate to the food they eat, the teeth of animals resemble the different foods each species eat. And since humans have several kinds of teeth for all kinds of food, it shows that we are the most developed creatures. And it was interesting that occlusion was a main focus when observing the teeth of fossils. By observing teeth fossils that showed wear, he was getting closer to discovering a creature with teeth that resembled the first stage of human's precise chewing. It was interesting to know that the discovered tritheledonts were reptiles that had the tooth-to-tooth occlusion. And I never knew that the process of making teeth came first, and that this process was modified to create other organs. So in conclusion, I learned another thing that connects humans to other creatures.
