Chapter 4

While reading chapter four, an interesting thing caught my eye on page 65. This is where Shubin describes his expedition to scavenge bones with Chuck. He explains that Chuck taught him a new way to looks for bones and fossils. You go through the potential field and look for small clues such as teeth and fragments of bones. This was a new way for Shubin to looks for bones and fossils. This is particularly interesting because in Calculus the problems you try to attempt are not always in one method, as Shubin had been looking for bones before his expedition with Chuck. We learned that one problem can have multiple ways to solve and some maybe right there on the surface and some may be depth within the context of the problem, just like fossils. The varied methods lead to the same answer every time but the process is key in understanding Calculus and for finding bones/fossils.
