Ch. 2

In the second chapter, 'Getting a Grip', I found it interesting that Sir Richard Owen related his one bone, two bone, lotas blobs from fish and other animals to human limbs. The digram on page 31 showed how even a bat wing is an arm with long fingers. It is interesting to me to see how it is percieved that from a fish humans have evolved. Why would early fish try to 'walk'? The Tiktaalik was capable of actually doing push ups. If the fish were trying to escape from being eaten by predators then this skill would become necessay to escape. In order to survive this fish needed to 'walk' or push itself out of the water to get away and survive.
