The 3rd chapter of Your Inner Fish started out to be really boring because it was just a review of genetics and pregnancy that I had already learned in my freshman year biology class. Then, the chapter became strikingly interesting as Shubin described the experiments of the ZPA and the Sonic Hedge hodge gene that showed me how human hands were similar to fins and hands of other creatures. I had not known how human hands were similar to fins and hands of other creatures because previous biology classes I took did not fully explain the similarities. On a side note, Shubin writes the third chapter as if he is writing a recipe for a meal, he explains everything step by step, which I really enjoy because it helps me understand the chapter more clearly.
