I personally thought that chapter four was an interesting chapter compared to the previous chapter about DNA's. Not only was this chapter easy to understand, but this chapter was very appealing to me. I know many people don't really care that much about teeth, but after reading this chapter, I learn how important teeth were. They are essential to the ways we eat and chew your food. I was also amazed how strong teeth were. Another interest thing in this chapter was the excitement of finding fossils out in the open. Shubin explains how it was almost impossibly hard to find bones, but the way how his view changed in finding fossils surprised me. Relating back to chapter one, I can see how fossil finding is like a real treasure hunt. Knowing that fossil hunting is a serious task, it makes me want to hunt for fossils too because nobody can figure what kind of rare bones people can find. I also learned that teeth were made of hydroxyapatite and how some fish like an ostracoderm had little teeth as its armor. Also, teeth, glands, and feathers all form in a same way. This chapter was really interesting overall and I like how Shubin used his experiences of finding fossils because it really cleared my mind of how fossils were found.
