I found Chapter 3 to be the most interesting so far, because I enjoyed learning about our DNA recipes and how Sonic hedgehog connects such different species together.
As Nikita said, I liked Shubin's similie comparing our bodies and "a concerto composed of individual notes played by many instruments" (46). His comparisons of science to other matters helps me to fully grasp what he is trying to convey.
The chapter overall was very interesting, even though I had to read certain sections carefully to fully understand. It intrugued me how "a strip of tissue at the extreme end of the limb bud is essential for all limb development" and that removing it halts development. Such small things matter significantly in the development in our bodies. In addition, the thought of a SINGLE cell created at conception containing all the DNA needed to make our bodies is amazing.
