DNA
Neil Shubin has done it once again. Other than the more complicated concept in this chapter, like DNA, he has presented an intricate idea in a rather interesting way that kept my attention. The detail that left the biggest impression on me is probably the way they manipulated embryos of multiple animals and what information was found through this seemingly controversial method. The chicken's embryo whom was manipulated to have digits was one of my favorite details in this chapter. When reading that part, I just kept trying to conjure an image in my mind of chicken with fingers... Pretty weird looking, huh? It was also interesting to find that animals on Earth are even more interconnected than I previously believed. Yeah, I'm talking about the Sonic the Headgehog gene, which I know, has gotten pretty cliche, but it's still pretty cool. I'd never have thought that one little piece of DNA can be found in so many animals!
