Genes.. What can i say? I have to HAND it to them

Well this chapter was not one of my favorite chapters. True, it got more in depth and added some WOAH information but the problem with it, in my opinion, that the way he structured his discussion of the ZPA and the Sonic Hedgehog thing was a bit confusing. I found myself having to re-read what the differences between these two things was and how they even worked. Even though it was confusing i liked that it had comical names like "Sonic hedgehog" because the" gene had bristles that reminded them of a little hedgehog."

Even though this was not one of my favorite chapters and it was confusing i thought it was really cool how scientist manipulated other species genes, such as chickens, using fly genes, then manipulating skate's genes, thus connecting many forms and aspects of life together. I would have never imagined a chicken having any similarities with a skate fish, nevertheless with a fly! It's crazy how by manipulating chicken genes scientist can better understand how and why HUMAN birth defects occur. I guess it just reconnects to his earlier chapter of the evolution of man from fish.... i guess the chicken came somewhere in between.

Overall, i agree with everyone else. "THIS CHAPTER WAS VERY INFORMATIVE... but confusing"
