This chapter gives me lots of information about our teeth. Such as “teeth are extra hard because their outer layer, enamel, is far richer in hydroxyapatite than any other structure in the body, including bone. Enamel gives teeth their white sheen.” (74). So if people brush their teeth too hard I think it will hurt their enamels, and their teeth will not be strong anymore. I think teeth are really really important to us; it is not only for chewing, however, it is also for our bright smile and make us perfect looks. If we don’t have teeth, then we can not enjoy the fine food, and since the food is not ground enough and send to the stomach directly then those food are not easy to be digested, which is not good for our stomachs and intestines. I guess that’s why those who have bad teeth usually are skinny. Also, if someone has one or more front teeth lost, he or she will speak indistinctly .
On the other hand, this chapter seems more familiar to me, because my daddy is a dentist and professor of dental school in Taiwan, he usually gave me some knowledge about our teeth. I think this chapter will be a good subject of talk with my daddy in Taiwan (going to visit my families this August). I think he will be really happy and proud that I have learned so many knowledge about his field.
