Chapter 6: Best Laid Body Plans

In this chapter Shubin chooses to discuss the topic about embryos and how a human embryo goes through several stages that is similar to other animal's embryos. What went through my mind while I was reading this chapter was how amazing that something so small can grow into an actual organism. It's amazing how he can see the smallest characteristic about one animal and be able to link it back to another. And that small embryo is the beginning stage where a full - grown animal is formed with bones, tissues, and organs. A fun fact would be Von Baer who discovered that any animals' organs can follow the three layer arrangement, an idea he got from chickens. The simplicity of his writing pulls me in and actually makes me want to read even further in his upcoming chapters.
