Adventures in Bodybuilding

This Chapter was by far my favorite, it made me think and bring myself deeper into the amazing development from a single celled organism to a organism as complex as the human who made this link to our ancestry. This chapter made me do something I never thought I could do, compare myself to a sponge. I guess we're more like SpongeBob then I thought. Another instance in which I became deeper enthralled in this book was when Neil pushed us into thinking of how cell communicate. This thought brought many questions and connections with it. It made me understand that the communication is what keeps my body functioning properly. If the communication stopped I could easily develop cancer and even die at the spot. The connection to the earliest single cell organisms help us develop our link to our inner fish.

Chapter 7: Adventures in Bodybuilding

Now what Mr. Shubin talked about in this chapter deeply intrigued me. It was like watching Criss Angel accomplish another "mind freak" on someone, except it happened in my mind. The way that cells can clump together, in their own assigned areas, and collaborate to form something greater.

"Much of the difference between a leg bone and an eye rests in the ways the cells and materials are arranged deep inside" (Shubin 123). Basically all cells work with each other, and they know exactly what to do. Amazingly, the cells do a better job in doing their own roles than us while we constantly wonder what our role in life is to be.

The design behind the formation bone and eye and skin is absolutely perfect. More cells with less filling gives us a solid bone. Less cells but more filling gives us a super smooth surface. And the way that the cells communicate with one another, by sending molecules as signals, is genius. God must love us a lot; though, most evolutionists would beg to differ. Also, how only minuscule amount of cells can perform tasks is quite the feat. For that clump of cells to become human, an even better feat. You can't shun the awesomeness of the results, can you? I mean, clumps of cells just keep on innovating--they don't go back to their degenerate form but makes itself even better. Hopefully the end results don't turn out to be a perfect species of super-humans. Terminator.
