Chapter 3: Handy Genes
This chapter by just looking at the title didn't seem as interesting as I expected, but as i read along it was a very enjoyable read. From previous knowledge I always knew about mice or rats being used as animals that received the experiment so I thought I wouldn't be interested in it. However, coming from a love for marine life, the use of sharks and skates was very appealing. I am amazed at how extravagant the topic of genes can cover. For me, the most interesting part was the use of vitamin A on the chicken embryo. I never though vitamin A could to that to its limb bud. At home, I was always told that vitamin A was good to intake because it's good for your eyes, but never the capability to mirror-image duplication. But above all, it amazes me at how important genes are to the body. It almost makes me appreciate all the little things that i use every day like hands, arms, feet, legs, ect.
