(*Note I have a tendency to ramble and get off topic, sorry)
OK going to be honest here and say I was annoyed that we had to read this book and make a blog about what we thought while reading it. Not only do I have to wrestle with my alleged ADD to read the book in the first place, I had to remember what I was thinking while reading this book. So my first thoughts were "Ugh my older brother never had to read this so I can't casually pick his brain for the main idea or whatever." So I ordered the book on Amazon and waited.
After getting the book I stared at the cover admiring the artwork. It was kind of cool. My interest was thus piqued at that point and I looked at the back and saw the picture of the author. I spent five minutes trying to decide who he reminded me of...I had the actor's name but unfortunately I forgot so that was a waste. I started reading and was immediately grateful for the rhetoric questions, at least that way I could get the sense of what he was going to say next. His reference to Eisenhower got me interested because I am a history geek and love random quotes and facts about the presidents. Thanks to the Animaniacs, I can recite all the presidents in order albeit in song form.
My first attempt at reading I planned on sitting down and reading all 27 pages..well that horse was shot in the face when I spaced out for a whole hour and snapped back after receiving a barrage of texts/updates from my phone. I only got to page six and quit. I tried again to read the rest of it and couldn't focus. I'm not much of a reader because I don't always possess the concentration to read all the way through. To make matters worse I have this perpetual headache and I'm in a loud, noisy house where screaming is the norm. (note those two are probably related). I tried to focus but I had Breathe Carolina's new single Blackout stuck in my head and that just made my mind wander about the future concerts over the summer. My mind definitely knows how to get me off track.
It took me a span of three days to read 27 pages but I managed. What I got out of it was interesting. I always toyed with the idea of being a paleontologist and to read a book that outlined their basic moves was interesting. Evolution has always been a topic of confusion for me but reading this seemed clear to me. I did enjoy this book in my own way and appreciated the pictures of the site and fossils. Though to be honest I'm not excited to read the next chapter.
