Chapter 1

Neil Shubin seems to be a very dedicated man. Despite the harsh conditions he works in, and the difficulty of actually finding rare fossils, he strives to make accomplishments in his field. This book has been mostly what i expected. There is mostly factual information, however he also gives some of his own background and opinion which keeps it entertaining.

I found the classifying of the fossils to be interesting. According to Shubin, just about all fossils can be put into a group, such as "Everything with limbs". I am almost envious of Neil Shubin's life. He travels all around doing what he loves. Although there is probably disappointment at times when he cannot find fossils, it must be a huge relief when he makes a great discovery. His life is a great mixture of work and pleasure.
