Chapter 2: Getting a Grip
This chapter really captivates people that are thinking of going into the medical field. It makes what he's talking about relate-able to a large amount of people that varies from levels to levels. It was interesting how he talked about how bones no matter what the creature have the same "blueprint" as everyone else. Somehow everyone is connected to each other. I also found it interesting that they need the whole species to answer questions, like at the part where Shubin said that if they have an isolated fin because they dont' know anything else about the fish and where it came from. This results in a long process of ten years, showing how scientists have great patients when working on a project. I like for things to be done quickly, and to have to work on finding evidence for ten years I think that I would have done insane by the end of the ten years. It was funny where Shubin compares solving the answers to solving a puzzle, in a way that is how things get done in paleontology field. Having one piece with no other pieces and having to put the picture back together without knowing what it looked like originally. It is like looking at a blind canvass and saying there will be a Mono Lisa.
