Chapter 2: Getting a Grip

The second chapter of Your Inner Fish, was still as interesting as the first except for the beginning of the chapter. As Shubin described his experience of a human dissection, I was horrified and disgusted, and i questioned myself,"Why in the world would anyone want to do that?" But everyone has different opinions and this is what allows us to know how the human body came to be. The evolution of how our arms came to be was interesting though. As i saw the diagram of different species compared to other and our arms, I was able to see how similar it was and see the gradual change. Also in Owen's one bone-two bones-lotsa blob-digits arrangement, the front fin of the Tiktaalik has a wrist, which makes Shubin's explanations more credible to believe. The bones and the discovery of Tiktaalik incredibly influences many people's thought and feelings toward evolution because there is evidence right in front of their eyes. I was able to gain new knowledge about our limbs and bones.
