Chapter TWO

As I read chapter two, it amazed me to find out that Shubin was still going at the excavations, whether it be the Atlantic or the states of Pennsylvania. Shubin amazed me even more when he was dissecting the cadaver. At first, I was surprised to find out that he had fun dissecting the cadaver; he said that it was like a machine, and a mechanic motion that intrigued him to keep going into the dissection, until he got to the hands. It surprised me even more when he found a connection to the hands. Although he had a connection to the bones in the human hand because of his discoveries, it seemed as though he was affected emotionally as well. When it was time to get to dissecting the hand, it was as if he had lost all the confidence, as if he was suddenly beginning to get all sentimental. For this chapter however, it was defined in the chapter's title. Although it does not really seem like it, it relates, unlike the first chapter and its title. It is interesting because Shubin first compares us humans to other animals and then to fish. That is really surprising; the fact that our ancestors could have possibly been fish is really weird, but possibly true.
