chapter 2:Getting a Grip

Just like chapter 1, Getting a Grip was just as informative, elaborating on the development of the limb, hand and wrist like Tiktaalik. From previous experiences, when I saw a dead body at a funeral or on T.V., for me it is also true that the hands are the most striking part. For me, the hands can be the connection to different people. For example, when I first meet someone I am not familiar with, I tend to shake their hand, wave or high-five them. Not only is the hand and wrist something that can connect two different people, but it is an amazing tool.
Without the development of limbs for instance, many creatures such as birds, seals, or lizards would have a very difficult time getting from place to place. It never really hit me until I read this chapter that there were "exceptional similarities" among very different creatures. It may not be as obvious from looking at the outside of one, but by looking at the bone structure of many different creatures, we are all similar. Finally, it is hard to believe that the structure of the limbs has changed so much over time. Thanks to the changes and development of the wrists, we are able to do many other motions with them, that sets humans apart from fish, to say the least.
