Chapter 3: Handy Genes

When I first read the title of this chapter, I really didn't want to read it becausee genes were always confusing and boring to me. But when I finished reading this chapter, I was pretty interested in genes and kind of understood them more. I was fascinated by the ZPA tissue and the sonic hedgehog gene. I was amazed and kind of terrified by how changing the position of the ZPA tissue could duplicate the fingers. The tissue is so small but it can have an huge affect on how the animal's appearance turns out. It was also amazing how every animal has the sonic hedgehog gene; it shows that all animals are really connected. I think I'm really started to believe in this kind of stuff and the images just make me believe in it more. I am truly starting to love this book and I hope the next chapter help me learn something new and even more interesting.
