Chapter Three: Handy Genes

Chapter three was mostly talking about how our genetic code is like a formula, and when the formula is changed; the end result is also different. It's really amazing how related all organisms are because of their DNA being linked through other animals to us. It was pretty amusing when the scientists named a gene the "Sonic Hedgehog" because it made the fly have bristles on its body like a hedgehog. That specific gene could make a hand have an extra finger or one less. By performing experiments, the scientists could use the data to learn more about human defects and why that happens.
