Upon reading chapter two, I was terrified to encounter one of Shubin's experience in human dissection. The way he described the situation gave me goosebumps as he pointed out the human organs that were being examined. Despite this nightmarish dissection, I was amazed to learn that all living creatures have a common design consisting of humerus, ulna, radius, wrist bones, and digits. I was also surprised when Shubin discovered a fish with a wrist just like humans for I believed humans were unlikely to share any similar physical trait as a sea creature. However, as soon as I read about Tiktaalik, a creature mentioned in the previous chapter, I was able to concede that humans are not unique among living creatures. In fact, I was captivated when Shubin explained that Tikataalik, a fish is able to do a push-up and can reveal early stages in the evolution of humans.
