Chapter One : Finding Your Inner Fish

Upon reading this book I was expecting the book to be dull and difficult to read, but that was not the case. Shubin writes with such dedication to his work that it's hard not to be interested in what he had to say.I was also relieved that there were some familiar ideas in the book; like how they determine the age of the fossil based on what layer of rock it was buried in. I admire his determination to discover Tiktaalik, and actually found myself cheering a bit when he finally found it. The visuals also help me understand the concepts of the book more. What struck me as most interesting, was how evolution was so painfully slow for water-living organisms to transition to land animals.
